Tuesday, Oct 27 — Fall River rates and four afternoon meetings

Fall River Electric's board meets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the co-op's Ashton office. The agenda marks a motion on retail rate tariff sheets for Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming as an action item, alongside a public relations plan for a 2027 rate increase. It sets member town halls on the rates for January, with the Driggs meeting on Jan. 19. The board will also discuss offers from investment funds, most of which "want to purchase Fall River Electric," an item the agenda marks "Not Recommended but worth a discussion."

Teton County Fire & Rescue's commissioners meet at 2 p.m., earlier than the district's usual 4 p.m. Fire pond requirements are on the agenda; in the county commissioners' Oct. 26 packet, the district's fire marshal questioned the volume of the fire pond planned for Zamora Estates. The board also holds two executive sessions, one to consider hiring and one with legal counsel.

The school board's working meeting, 4 to 6 p.m., covers the 2025-26 audit, a financial dashboard, a levy update, and a budget check-in, a week before voters decide the district's supplemental levy.

The county planning commission's worksession at 5 p.m. takes up traffic impact studies, the definition of a building envelope, the comprehensive plan, appeals and reconsiderations, indoor recreation, and land division exemptions, with no votes on the agenda.

Tetonia's open house on a proposed water tank project is at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 3192 Perry Ave. The council set the date at its Sept. 30 special meeting, and its notice says a quorum of the council may attend.

Wednesday, Oct 28 — Victor's council

The Victor City Council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 138 N. Main St., Suite 201, with Zoom. Work sessions cover public safety funding, the comprehensive plan update, and the city's wastewater negotiations with Driggs. A public hearing takes up an amended development agreement for Mountainside Village Phases 4B and 4C, and the council votes on a SCADA upgrade that staff would pay for from sewer reserves. The council's Nov. 11 meeting is canceled and moved to a special meeting Nov. 18.

Victor's wastewater straw poll stays open through Saturday. "Before we make decisions that will affect our community for decades, we want to better understand what our residents and ratepayers value most," Mayor Sue Muncaster said in the city's announcement. The three-minute poll is informal and not binding.

Thursday, Oct 29 — The library's zone change

Driggs holds a neighborhood meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall, 60 S. Main St., on the Valley of the Tetons Library's request to rezone its 0.57-acre parcel at 445 N. Main St. from Recreation to Civic, for a new library. Library representatives and city staff will be on hand, and the library's project page asks people to "stop by at your convenience during this time or join online."

Tuesday, Nov 3 — Election Day and three Driggs hearings

Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and absentee ballots must reach the elections office in Courthouse Room 208 by 8 p.m.; postmarks don't count. Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30.

The Driggs City Council holds three public hearings at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 60 S. Main St., and on Zoom. Tributary Park Homes Phase 1 is a preliminary plat for 37 single-family lots on 17.78 acres. The Stone Ridge Townhomes hearing is an appeal of the city's site development approval, which the planning commission modified in September. The third is a request to reconsider the Corona Valley approval the council granted Sept. 1.

Wednesday, Nov 4 — Housing and a master plan

Teton Valley Housing's commission meets at noon in the Commissioners' Chambers, with its agenda to come on the authority's meetings page. The recreation district's second master plan open house runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Driggs City Center.

What We're Watching

Tuesday's tariff sheets are in a board packet that is not posted online. In July the co-op announced it is backing a new natural gas plant, citing maxed-out hydropower.

What to watch: what rate Fall River's board puts in its tariff sheets Tuesday, ahead of the January town halls.
