Teton Valley sheriff blotter, the week of August 30–September 5. Three hundred six calls came in to the Teton County Sheriff's Office.

Fifteen agency assists landed inside two days. The sheriff's office attributed the cluster to a countywide compliance sweep of the sex-offender registry, an enforcement action it said it initiated in coordination with the United States Marshals Service. The Marshals took the lead. Three people were arrested for failing to comply with the Sex Offender Registration Act, and one was additionally charged with possession of AI-generated material depicting the sexual abuse of a minor.

Two of the week's DUI stops came three minutes apart in Victor, and another driver blew more than three times the legal limit. Two damaged-property reports and a stolen dump truck were the whole of the property-crime column.

18:57 A caller in Driggs reported children jumping on cars. Three in total were on cars. They were supposedly five to eight years old. Deputies responded and were unable to locate any children jumping on cars.

22:06 A motorist followed a vehicle that was weaving all over the road with no lights on, and called it in. A deputy got behind the vehicle between Driggs and Victor and watched it swerve in its lane and cross the yellow line. Asked why he had been all over the road, the driver said it was dark. He had had two or three beers, he said, and then assured the deputy it was two. He asked whether he could decline the field sobriety test. He could, and he did. He consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up nothing. At the sheriff's office he refused further testing, and blood was drawn at the hospital. A 32-year-old man from New Jersey was taken to the Madison County jail.

07:40 A Victor resident reported a dump truck stolen and said they knew who had it. They had bought the truck from that person, and the two had argued. They signed the paperwork for a report and offered some ideas about where to look. The truck turned up in the Jackson area, and the sheriff's office in Teton County, Wyoming, was notified. The seller had it, and said it would stay put until payment was made. The buyer had the loan documents and the bill of sale. The seller had the title. The two were referred to civil court.

14:31 A deputy in Driggs watched a pickup leave the road into the dirt, cross lanes and strike a large decorative stone. The driver got out and started walking toward the deputy, who told him to get back in the truck five times in English and four times in Spanish before he did. Asked why he had gotten out, the driver said he had been drinking with a friend. Asked what he had been drinking, he said nothing. The deputy had to repeat simple questions. A search turned up several open containers, spilled through the inside of the truck. A 27-year-old Driggs man blew .258 and .260, more than three times the legal limit, and was arrested for DUI. He was bonded out.

14:11 A driver in Driggs came back to a car that had been hit while it was parked at a football game. No note had been left.

22:02 A deputy in Driggs stopped a vehicle with a taillight out. One beer, the driver said. He failed the field sobriety test. The trouble was his toes, he explained, from a spinal injury. Then it was two beers. He blew .146 and .143. A 34-year-old Driggs man was arrested for DUI and bonded out. In custody, talking to friends, he admitted how much he had had to drink.

One domestic-disturbance report was taken this week, in Victor. Anyone experiencing domestic violence can reach the Family Safety Network's 24-hour crisis line at (208) 354-7233 for confidential support.

22:09 A deputy made a traffic stop in Victor. The driver blew .090 and .092. The vehicle was towed. A 35-year-old Victor man was taken to the sheriff's office, and from there to the Madison County jail. An immigration detainer was served.

00:17 A caller in Victor who had been drinking reported a driver who had been drinking and had driven off. A man had gotten out of one vehicle and broken the windshield of another. Deputies stopped a driver, found an open container, and asked about the damage. It was his cousin who had broken it, the driver said, and he was there to collect him. He failed the field sobriety test and did not give a valid breath sample. Somewhere in the two and a half hours it took to sort out, dispatch sent over a photo of a man with an active Teton County warrant. The man in the photo was the driver, who had given deputies another name. He consented to a search of his phone. It confirmed he was the man with the warrant. His vehicle was towed. A 33-year-old Victor man was arrested on the warrant and charged with DUI, open container, fraud, providing false information to law enforcement, malicious injury to property, and driving without privileges.

23:10 A man called to say he had gotten a notification that his son had been in a crash. Deputies went looking for someone who might have fallen off a bike, and found a phone in the middle of Highway 33. The father gave them the owner's address. The officer who brought the phone to the house smelled marijuana and asked the resident to turn it over. He handed over the paraphernalia. The officer asked for the bag as well, and got that too. Deputies seized marijuana and paraphernalia from a 25-year-old Driggs man. No charges were filed.
