Teton Valley sheriff blotter, the week of August 2–8. Three hundred two calls came in to the Teton County Sheriff's Office.

A porta-potty fire in Tetonia is under investigation. A traffic stop in Victor put a deputy on the ground. Not one permitted burn was logged all week, and the log carries no DUI arrest and no theft report.

11:50 A Driggs resident filling a pool was bitten by their own dog. No report was taken.

11:05 Three vehicles collided at the bottom of the pass in Victor. One of the cars placed the 911 call itself; its airbags had deployed. Someone was injured and having trouble breathing. Northbound traffic was blocked and rerouted down Old Jackson Highway. Medics took two patients to Teton Valley Hospital. The car in front was struck and then sideswiped by a vehicle headed south. The driver who hit it from behind had not registered that traffic ahead had slowed, and was cited for inattentive driving.

11:34 A caller reported a large metal bar lying in the southbound lane. It could not be located anywhere between Driggs and Victor. The caller then mentioned it was on Teton Pass. A deputy found the bar there and removed it.

02:29 A caller in Driggs told dispatch they were thinking of harming themselves. A dispatcher talked them through it, and the caller was taken to Teton Valley Hospital. Anyone in crisis can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

11:21 A parent in Driggs called the sheriff's office unable to find their 2-year-old, gone five or ten minutes while they folded laundry. The parent found the child playing hide and seek.

01:12 A deputy conducting surveillance in Victor stopped a vehicle on a report that it would be carrying drugs. Someone had told the deputy they had personally seen the driver hand LSD and mushrooms to another person. The deputy smelled marijuana and asked the driver, an 18-year-old Jackson man, to step out; he denied knowing of any drugs in the car. The deputy moved to seize his phone and he refused to hand it over. He was arrested for resisting and obstructing officers, and the arrest turned into a scuffle that knocked the deputy off their feet. He was also charged with an open container.

10:27 A caller reported a man riding a bicycle up Pine Creek Pass and said they were worried he would be hit. The log recorded it as a traffic hazard.

10:08 A Victor resident reported their bank account had been hacked. The bank had disallowed about eight transactions totaling $67,000. Most of the money was expected back; $2,500 was still pending.

12:53 Deputies at a Victor residence for a probation house check found an unlocked safe holding needles and other drug paraphernalia. A 41-year-old woman was there holding an infant, who had a lighter in hand when deputies arrived. The woman admitted using methamphetamine. Child Protective Services was contacted and the two children were taken into protective custody. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and taken to the Madison County jail.

13:07 A driver in Driggs threw a car into reverse, slammed into the vehicle behind it and drove off, leaving its grill damaged. The caller said the driver came back past and shouted out the window, "I just tapped you, you're fine." The driver was cited for misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident.

22:22 A caller reported four relatives riding bicycles on Pine Creek Pass, overdue, with no contact since 6 p.m. The caller's brother had found their vehicles. The information was passed to Bonneville County dispatch, and the caller was told to call back if the riders were not heard from.

23:18 A caller in Victor reported a man who was non-responsive and could not stay on his feet, stumbling a few steps at a time before going down. He told deputies he lived across the street. He was 27, on misdemeanor probation, and now in violation of it. He was released to his mother.

20:47 A driver in Victor went through three yards and hit two vehicles in the Brookside Hollow Subdivision. Deputies spoke with her and her husband through a Spanish translator. She was 23 and learning to drive; he was 40 and in the passenger seat with their 4-year-old daughter in the front passenger area and no car seat. The car was allegedly going about 50 miles an hour. It nearly struck a parked van, took a sharp turn and scraped a bumper, crashed into one vehicle, continued down a narrow gap between a car and a street light post, and struck another. A neighbor took the keys to keep the car from leaving the scene. No injuries were reported, and no airbags deployed. She was cited for reckless driving, injury to a child, and driving without a license or insurance. He was cited for injury to a child.

16:44 A 28-year-old Jackson man was extradited from Teton County, Wyoming to Teton County, Idaho on a misdemeanor warrant. He was booked at the sheriff's office and bonded out.

22:39 A family outside their Victor home watched a man with no shoes try to walk in the door. He ended up in their shed instead. He could not give his name, and mumbled and stumbled while the caller's father and four other men tried to talk to him; the caller thought he was very intoxicated. He made no threats, and at one point asked the caller to call the police. He would not leave. The call was changed from suspicious activity to unlawful entry, and the man, 22 and from Victor, was arrested for trespassing.

22:40 A porta-potty burned in Tetonia. Fire crews responded to visible flames and put it out. The call went into the log as a fire and came back out as an arson.
